Location
The Claire Gibbs Friendship Home is located on Wieuca's campus near the main entrance to the church office squarely in front of the Activities Center. The Friendship home offers convenient access to Northside Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, Piedmont Hospital and Shepherd Center. You'll also have easy access to MARTA, restaurants, grocery stores, and shopping from Wieuca's campus.Occupancy
The Claire Gibbs Friendship Home provides a temporary residence for family members from outside the metropolitan Atlanta area. A preference will be given to those families living more than 35 miles away from the Friendship Home. Wieuca coordinates with Christian churches outside this 14 county metropolitan Atlanta area and with local hospital chaplains/social workers/administrators for recommendations of potential guests. While initial contact about the use of the Friendship Home may be made by telephone or email, a formal written request is made to Wieuca Road Baptist Church. This request must provide a family profile, which also explains the nature of the medical situation and the name of the hospital where the family member will be staying. The Chair of the Missions Committee, in conjunction with the Pastor and the full committee, gives final approval to guest applications.
Occupancy in the Claire Gibbs Friendship Home is limited to a maximum of four weeks at a time; however special needs and the availability of the facility may allow for an extension.
Because of the design of the home and guests' need for privacy, occupancy is limited to members of two families at a time.
Guests are assigned to one of two terrace-level apartments each having two separate bedrooms and a bathroom/shower. Each apartment has a television and wireless internet access. One apartment supports a family of four; the other a family of three.
Other facilities available to guests of the house on the main level are a kitchen, two areas for dining, cabinet and refrigerator space, a den, a Learning Center with two computer stations and a laundry room with washer and dryer.
The House Manager lives on the main level providing an extra level of security. A fully functional security system is also operational.
Cost
Guests are asked for a donation of $100.00 for a seven day week. Payment can be made by cash or check. Donations help cover the operating costs of the facility such as utilities, security and cleaning.
