Reimagining Our Faith

Devotional Series

What is “Reimagining Our Faith”?
Great question—we’re so glad you asked!

Reimagining Our Faith is a series of short, uplifting online devotions designed to fit into your everyday life. Whether you’re watching on your phone, laptop, or listening during your commute, each devotion offers a simple moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect—no complicated setup required.

But why call it Reimagining Our Faith?
At Church at Wieuca, we’ve been using the word, “reimagine” a lot lately—because it’s full of possibility. To reimagine means to imagine again, to form something new, to re-create. And what better word to pair with our faith?

We believe God is always creating—always doing something new. In each of us, God is constantly re-forming, reshaping, and reimagining who we are.

So take a few minutes with us each week. Tune in, reflect, and maybe even begin to reimagine your own faith—starting today.

Launching Monday, June 16

Reflection

  • What do you think of when you encounter the word “reimagine?”
  • How does the definition Dr. Head mentions make you feel? (reimagine means: to imagine again or anew; to form a new conception of; to re-create)
  • Do you believe God is actively at work right now in your life? Why or why not?
  • As you go about your day, create space to notice how God is reimaging and recreating you.
  • If you were to do a reflective inventory of your own vices and virtues, what would be on that list? How does that list make you feel?
  • Head reminds you of the good news that the God of recreating is the one who gives you a better way forward. Your vices are not the end of the story for you. Give thanks to God for the virtues in your life.
  • Head’s challenge for today: If you asked the people closest to you, would they say your life reflects justice, mercy, and humility? What examples from your own life show you are living these out? What small thing can you do today to walk humbly with God?
  • Do you consider yourself a proud person? Why or why not?
  • Head mentions balance as the key to dealing with this vice. Today, what is one thing you can do to balance your desire for pride alongside your need to affirm God as your giver of life?
  • Reflect on these words from Frederick Buechner on pride: “Self-love, or pride, is a sin when, instead of leading you to share with others the self you love, it leads you to keep your self in perpetual safe-deposit. You not only don’t accrue interest that way, but you become less and less interesting every day.” (Beyond Words, p. 323)
