We are collecting items for one of our Missions partners, City of Refuge; a faith-based environment that helps individuals and families transition out of crisis. Their process takes place under one roof in the most dangerous zip code in Atlanta, 30314. City of Refuge is in the middle of one of Atlanta’s most historic and struggling neighborhoods where 40% of the residents live below the Federal Poverty Level.

By The Numbers:

  • 60% of all murders in metro Atlanta take place in the 30314 zip code
  • 19% of residential units in poor or deteriorated conditions, compared to 3% citywide
  • 26% violent crime rate, compared to 15% citywide
  • 38% of residential units vacant, compared to 5% citywide
  • 214 births to teens per 1,000 births, compared to 108 citywide
  • 25% of population without a high school diploma, compared to 12% citywide
  • 43% poverty rate, compared to 23% citywide

City of Refuge offers means to get stable through housing, food, clothing, and healthcare. They offer education, job training, and financial literacy to those in crisis. With needs and new skills, those experiencing crisis can find jobs, affordable housing, and build stronger families. More information can be found at their website.
